With the help of film, text and image the artist Conny Karlsson explores the boundaries between language, social, political and intimate identity. In various renactments and staged situations he finds it intriguing to see how the position changes, such as using materials with a personal content presented in a way that is more poltical charged. He examines this concern with people having an activist approach, usually in a sphere related to social functions, sexual topics, and a radical political agenda. Often with an iconographic popular culture reference as a starting point his intention is to create a new perspective and meaning.
Karlsson holds an MFA in Fine Arts from Valand Academy of Fine Arts and currently based in Berlin(D) and Stockholm(SE).
