WorkFilmText Bio

With the help of film and moving images the artist Conny Karlsson explores identity – it’s mechanisms and origin. He uses subjective storytelling and narrative experiments with a focus on how gender and roles are constructed, through a close visual study of the involuntary blurred boundary between social, political and intimate identity. In his work, Karlsson wants to initiate a discussion on norms and values, how these control our everyday life and interact within a social agreement and structure. His work blends documentary material with fictional storytelling, and by using fragments of film, text and image he creates new perspectives and new meaning.

Karlsson is currently based in Berlin (D) and Stockholm (SE).
